The court has concluded the examination of evidence in K. Bartoševičius's criminal case
On Thursday, the Panevėžys Regional Court rejected the requests made by the lawyer of the accused K. Bartoševičius and concluded the examination of evidence in the criminal case of the former member of parliament.
The closing arguments are scheduled next in the case. On February 19th, the prosecutor will be the first to deliver their closing argument.
During today's hearing, the court considered a request from lawyer O. Šibkovas for a supplementary questioning of a witness who had already been interviewed, and a request to extend the recess in the case proceedings until responses are received from state institutions to inquiries sent by the defense.
In rejecting the request for additional witness questioning, the court stated that this witness had already been questioned at the defense's request, all parties to the proceedings had the opportunity to ask the witness questions, and the witness answered the questions. Therefore, further questioning of this witness is not purposeful.
In denying the lawyer's other request, the court noted that the responses the defense is awaiting to its inquiries from institutions do not impede the further progress of the court proceedings.
Currently, four more court hearings are scheduled in the case – on February 19th, 21st, and April 9th and 17th.
